This class has taught me coding languages and assisted with my intellectual talents. This class has helped hone my problem solving, for instance. Job listings for web developers on Indeed and Monster both encourage a problem-solving mindset, and I have the creativity and logic skills to meet that requirement. In addition, I have been tasked with interesting challenges, such as importing JSON data, using JQuery and graphing plugins, and creating a video game. These tasks required knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, and HTML, which I obtained from this course, and they encouraged me to find my own solutions. A good web developer must master these skills.

However, information technology is a rapidly-evolving field, and the best web developers adapt accordingly. In addition to gaining more experience with JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, I may need experience in many other platforms (e.g. WordPress, Wix) and coding languages (e.g. Python, SQL, PHP), depending on the position I apply for. Obtaining experience in various platforms and languages is quite complicated. For instance, I have gained some knowledge of SQL from taking Applied Database I this semester, but my knowledge of SQL is much weaker than that of JS. Just as W3Schools and JSFiddle helped immensely in learning JavaScript, I can use resources like W3Schools, SQLZoo, and SQLFiddle to enhance my knowledge of SQL. However, I do not have perfect knowledge of either, which is expected. I must be prepared to keep learning and improving my usage of specific tools.

Most web developer positions also expect experience in the field overall. My website is a crucial part of gaining more experience. I have interest in developing video games, and doing so on my website would be a good opportunity to continue practicing JavaScript, CSS, and HTML, as well as problem-solving and creativity. The last important requirement for web developers is collaboration. As the two class projects demonstrated, web developers must interact with teammates and clients, balancing their wants with the needs of clients and the strength of their team. Collaboration, like problem-solving, is a personal skill that requires practice. This introspective has helped me see the progress I have made in collaboration and other skills, and it makes me optimistic about my future career.
